I was born in Dublin in 1960 and educated in Mount Temple. Married with two children, I am so lucky to live and and work in the beautiful seaside town of Skerries, Co. Dublin.
Mainly self-taught, I have painted all my life, the catalyst being the gift of oil paints from my sister at an early age. In fact I have an oil painting that I painted when I was twelve years old.
I paint predominantly still life, landscape, seascapes or interiors in my favourite medium of oils. Working with a palette knife, my paintings are characterised by vigorous thick buttery slashes of colour, with highlights of heavy impasto paint on areas where pigment is otherwise barely staining the canvas.
I paint every day in my Studio/Gallery, situated in the magnificent courtyard of the 15th century restored watermill In Skerries Mills. Where I also give art classes and one day palette knife workshops..
As well as my personal work I have taken on various commissions including a large body of work for the Hotel Isaacs, in Dublin and Cork. My paintings can also be seen in the Lyrath Hotel, Kilkenny, Sheraton Hotel in Athlone and Lismore House Hotel in Lismore, Co. Waterford. Private collectors include, Actor - Brendan Gleeson, Designer - Laney Keogh, Actor - Aongus Og McAnally. Irish rugby Cap. - Niall Hogan, TV and radio presenter - Matt Cooper.
